My introduction

Hi! My name is Sam Inada, and my target language is Japanese!

My grandpa is Japanese, and so ever since I was a kid, I have been a little bit around Japanese culture. He always gave me Japanese things as gifts such toys, clothes, books, and movies. My dad who is half Japanese and teaches comics and animation at the university in my hometown introduced me to manga and anime when I was young. My favorite is Haikyuu.

In high school, I learned Spanish, but I was so bad at it that I stopped and never wanted to learn a language again. Last year I realized that for my major in college I have to take three years of a language, and so I tried Japanese and ended up loving it. Through the Japanese Student Organization and at my college, I met some Japanese exchange student friends who helped me practice and made learning Japanese so much fun. My favorite part about learning Japanese is I get to connect and be friends with so many people I might not have been able to otherwise.

My favorite ways to study Japanese on my own right now are listening to Japanese music and watching Japanese YouTube videos. My favorite Japanese YouTuber is Miku Real Japanese, who makes grammar videos and other kinds of videos that I find helpful. I also like Japanese podcasts like Learn Japanese Pod.
